Joint Venture d'eBay i Google per a Xina
La unió fa la força! I això mateix és el que han fet Google i el portal de subhastes per guanyar terreny a la Xina. Alibaba.com està pensant cada cop més la idea d'atacar al mercat americà, i això, hauran pensat, no pot ser. Així que les dues empreses, que entre una cosa i una altra, no tenen presència a la Xina, ha decidit unir-se i muntar un portal de subhastes online a la Xina.
El portal, que operarà sota el nom de Abretsesam.com, permetrà el pagament indistintament a través de Google CheckOut o PayPal.
Durant aquest primer semestre, llistar al portal serà gratuït i a partir del segon semestre, s'estan plantejant si cobrar o inserir publicitat Adsense a tot el portal. Mentre els de San José són partidaris a cobrar comissions per llistar i vendre, els de Silicon Valley volen continuar mantenint el lloc sense comisions i finançar-lo a través de publicitat contextual.
Un altre dels aspectes que hauran de solucionar a partir del segon semestre serà si, en cas de cobrar comissions, fer promocions de Listing Days o bé regalar cupons de descompte per a Google Adwords.
